Dr. Gwyn Mathis
Dr. Gwyn Mathis attended the University of Georgia for both her undergraduate and graduate work receiving a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1987. She has special interests in radiology, specifically ultrasound procedures, and ocular surgeries. She values honest and effective communication with our clients about their pets.
Dr. Gwyn's outside interests include hiking, crochet, knitting, yoga, and reading. Born and raised in Georgia, Dr. Gwyn married Dr. Greg in 1985. They have two daughters, Rachel and Georgia. She particularly enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, family, and pets.
Dr. Greg Mathis
Dr. Greg Mathis is a graduate of the University of Georgia Veterinary School. His special interests include chronic ear disease and allergy management, dermatology, specialized surgeries such as orthopedics, soft palate resections, and ZEPP procedures. Dr. Mathis values communication with pet parents and has a passion for educating clients with complicated medical cases.
Outside the clinic Dr. Mathis’ interests include reading, caving, hiking, tarpology and repelling.
Dr. Kelly Pierson
Dr. Kelly Pierson joined us in December 2018 as our associate veterinarian. She graduated from University of Georgia in 2009 and has been practicing in the south metro ever since. She completed her internship in Charlotte, North Carolina after graduation. Dr. Pierson’s special interests include dermatology, behavior and pain management. She values keeping an open line of communication between herself and pet owners.
Dr. Pierson’s outside interests include watching Georgia football and chasing her 2-legged babies around. She also played collegiate soccer in undergraduate for Northwestern State University and Wesleyan College.
Rachel McNeal is no newcomer to the world of Veterinary medicine. She has been helping out the practice since she was a small girl. She has a great passion for animals and healthcare.
Rachel works in the customer service side of our practice as our practice manager. Rachel's outside interests include art and spending time with her husband, children and pets.
Robbie joined our clinic in January 2015. He started as a kennel assistant and has since been cross trained in all areas of the clinic. He is now one of our lead veterinary assistants and trains our new hires.
Outside of work Robbie’s involved with his church where he also is attending seminary school and his hobbies include reading and spending time with friends and family on the lake.
Tonya Pilkenton joined our practice in February 2016 as our kennel manager. She has a passion for caring for all of our kennel guests and makes their care and comfort her top priority.
When she's not working hard at the clinic she's at home playing piano, bass guitar, and enjoying the lake.
Kay Hood joined our practice in March 2016 as our customer care representative. She has a passion for serving our clients and making their day better.
When she's not working at the clinic she's either enjoying a concert or outdoors.
Krystal joined our practice in July 2019 as one of our Veterinary Assistants. Before coming to work for us she was a certified nursing assistant and also volunteered at Save a Pet animal shelter. She has always had a passion for animals and couldn’t be more excited to share her passion for animals with all of our patients.
Outside of Brookwood she enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling with her husband, two girls and their fur baby. She also enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing, and sitting around campfires.
